Linda Cantey, PMP (Primer Capítulo del Mundo en membresía y modelo de trabajo para PMI), firmados este Octubre 2009, durante el Leadership Institute Meeting del PMI Global Congress 2009, llevado a cabo en Orlando, Florida; les presentamos el primer evento del Convenio, invitándolos a participar este próximo jueves 17 de diciembre a las 11 am del Webinar que organiza el PMI Washington D.C. – USA, Chapter.
En esta ocasión se presentará como Caso, el megaproyecto de expansión del canal de Panamá a cargo del Señor Jorge Quijano, PMP (Past-President del PMI Panamá, Panamá Chapter).
Este webinar será trasmitido en simultáneo para los PMI Chapter de Houston, South Florida, Costa Rica, México, Panamá, Argentina Chile, Colombia, Uruguay y Madrid; y obviamente nuestro país.

The Panama Canal Expansion Program is a $5.25 billion megaproject that has been underway since 2007. The project will add two additional lock complexes to the canal, creating tens of thousands of jobs and helping to secure the Panama Canal's relevance to global maritiime commerce. Mr. Quijano has been in charge of the Panama Canal's $5.25 billion Expansion Program since 2006.
Mr. Quijano, PMP, started his profession in Texaco's Oil Refinery in Panama, where he worked as a Process Engineer and Product Forecaster. He began his career with the Panama Canal in 1975 and climbed through the professional and managerial promotion ladder to the position of Maritime Operations Director in 1999. This department is directly involved in the operation and maintenance of the principal infrastructure and equipment of the waterway.
After leading the Maritime Operations department for over seven years covering the transition from US to Panamanian administration, Mr. Quijano has been in charge of the Panama Canal's $5.25 billion Expansion Program since 2006. To that effect, he was appointed as Executive Vice President of the Engineering and Programs Management Department in 2007.
In his new role, he heads a group of about 500 professionals which have the responsibility to manage the execution of all expansion program components. The department is specifically tasked with the contracting and oversight of the Locks Design and Construction contract, the Atlantic and Pacific entrance channel dredging contracts, the four dry excavation contracts, the Lake level dredging to be performed by ACP's (Autoridad del Canal de Panamá) workforce and other smaller support contracts. The department is working together as an integrated team with a hired program manager to oversee the execution of the entire Expansion Program.
